A friend texted me last week and told me that Luke Combs is playing in San Francisco on October 2.

“should we spend a ton of money on tickets?” he texted.

I texted back “Sure.” Then I added “Why not.”

My friend texted, “there’s that enthusiasm.”

I can see why my friend said this, except what I meant by “Sure” then “Why not” was, “Holy shit, last Sunday, just after the power went out at 3:05 p.m., an outage predicted to last for somewhere around 48 hours, I went to the store to get some stuff but the store I usually went to wasn’t open, and neither was the other one I usually go to, so I went to the supermarket I call the fash (as in fascist) supermarket, and seriously every white supremacist in town waited until the power went out to go shopping, and all I wanted was some ground chicken and some earplugs, and the store didn’t have any lights on, I guess they were using their generator power for the refrigerators and the cash registers and it was just me and all these dudes in MAGA hats poking around in the darkness, and as I looked through the meat section a MAGA guy on one side of me said to one on the other side “I like your hat” and that guy said “I like yours” they both chuckled because…
